Job summary

Camarillo Family YMCA in Camarillo, CA is seeking an Entry Level Sports Instructor for part-time hours. You will referee, coach, and supervise youth and community sports programs while upholding YMCA policies and ensuring safety.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment, delivering inclusive instruction, providing excellent member service, and reporting incidents per YMCA procedures. Candidates should be at least 16, able to obtain background clearance, and ready to complete required

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Ability to obtain a criminal record clearance, if over 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; valid work permit required if a minor
• Previous work experience in related field preferred
• Complete required certifications within 60days of hire
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire

• Responsible for refereeing, coaching, and/or supervising various sports programs
• Enforce and follow all Channel Islands YMCA policy and procedures
• Respond to emergency situations in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Complete incident reporting
• Provide instruction that is inclusive and based on best practices
• Set up and put away equipment before and after sports programs
• Provide exceptional customer service and foster connections with members
• Participate and satisfactory completion of in-service trainings
• Create an environment that is welcoming, nurturing, and inclusive for all members and guests
• Able to work collaboratively and respectfully as part of a staff team
• Ensure building, grounds, and equipment are in working order. Report any concerns
• Maintain certifications and take advantage of professional growth opportunities
• Support the annual campaign process including education of members
• Understand your role as a mandated reporter of elder and child abuse. Report and respond to situations in accordance with policies and procedures
• Ensure safety of children in facilities and programs and that proper supervision is provided
