Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a sports instructor to lead youth sports classes for ages 3 to 14 at Oak Square YMCA. The role requires strong child/parent communication, sports expertise, and the ability to work independently.

Classes run on weekday afternoons and weekend mornings with weekend supervision and occasional evenings. You will develop, organize and implement programs, supervise staff and volunteers, and engage families to grow participation in youth development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Excellent public relations and conflict resolution skills to foster positive relationships.
• Capacity to interact effectively with parents, children, and staff.
• Experience in organizing and leading sports activities for youth.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives.
• Develops and expands youth, teen, and family sports programs.
• Recruits, trains and directs personnel and volunteers as needed.
• Maintains gymnasium and equipment in collaboration with directors.
• Develops a seasonally appropriate sports schedule for children.
• Markets program information to members and community.
• Engages families and delivers classes as essential functions.
• Assists with fundraising activities and special events.
• Monitors participation and evaluates program effectiveness.
• Assumes shared administration responsibilities including nights and weekends.
