Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a Sports Instructor to lead sports classes for children and adults, delivering the provided curriculum and any personal drills while modeling YMCA values. • Excellent relationship-building and conflict-resolution skills with parents, staff, children, and community partners.
• Strong coaching skills with clear instruction, feedback, and motivation.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and planning abilities.
• Ability to manage small and large groups of children and/or adults.

Responsibilities

• Coaches sports programs using provided curriculum and the YMCA values of Caring, Honest, Respect and Responsibility.
• Demonstrates skills and outcomes to foster learning and development.
• Maintains group focus and positive coaching presence; redirects as needed.
• Meets players where they are in age and skill; offers challenges with appropriate drills and games.
• Maintains safe play environment; follows guidelines for attendance and safety.
• Prepares for each class; sets up play area and cleans up afterward.
• Provides real-time feedback to help players improve.
