Job summary

Saugus Family YMCA in Saugus, MA is seeking a part-time Youth Sports Program Instructor to lead and support youth sports across multiple ages (3–12) and activities such as basketball, soccer, and more. You’ll supervise programs, teach fundamentals, and promote teamwork in a fun community setting.

The role requires evenings and weekend availability, a passion for coaching, and the ability to engage families while upholding YMCA values.

Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of experience working with children.
• Prior experience playing/coaching/refereeing organized sports preferred.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead age-appropriate sports programs and classes.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all participants.
• Teach fundamental skills, rules, and sportsmanship while encouraging teamwork and confidence.
• Ensure participant safety by following YMCA policies and emergency procedures.
• Set up, maintain, and properly store sports equipment before and after classes or programs.
• Build positive relationships with participants, parents/guardians, and YMCA staff.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors regarding attendance, incidents, and participant progress.
• Model YMCA core values— Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility —always.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and in proper attire for all scheduled shifts.
• Assist with special events, clinics, leagues, or substitute coverage as needed.
