Job summary

Covenant House New York is seeking a Social Worker to provide psychosocial services to 16-21 year olds in a RHY shelter, using evidence-based approaches like DBT and motivational interviewing. Candidates should hold LMSW or LMHC licensure, aim to obtain LCSW within three years, and may benefit from English/Spanish bilingual skills.

Qualifications

• Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) required.
• Must earn LCSW licensure within three years of hire date.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• One year of experience with at-risk youth highly preferred; internships considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling and psychoeducation to youth experiencing homelessness.
• Complete psychosocial assessments and write summary reports.
• Link youth to longer-term mental health care and community supports.
• Provide consultation to Case Managers and program staff.
• Meet with clinical supervisor regularly to discuss client needs and plans.
