Job summary

The State of Colorado’s Division of Youth Services is seeking a Correctional Youth Security Officer I to provide direct care, safety and supervision of youth in secure facilities. Shifts may include evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime in a mandatory, essential role.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and be prepared for physical, behavioral management duties, documentation, and field training. Colorado residency requirements apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to intervene physically with youth as needed.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime.
• Commitment to safety and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, safety, security and supervision of adjudicated and/or pre-adjudicated youth in a secure setting.
• Implement behavior management and youth programming as part of daily duties.
• Document observations and required information in logs and records systems.
• Participate in training and maintain accountability within the division.
