Job summary

State of Colorado's Division of Youth Services seeks a dedicated Correctional Youth Security Officer I to supervise youth in a secure facility, enforce behavioral plans, and maintain thorough records. You will participate in training and may travel for state-required programs, ensuring safety and orderly operations within the youth center.

The role requires shift work, evening/night/weekend hours, and a strong commitment to trauma-informed, respectful care for youth in a high-security setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Must be willing and able to physically intervene with assaultive youth.
• No felony convictions or history of domestic violence (conditions of employment).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, safety, security, and supervision of adjudicated and/or pre-adjudicated youth in a secure setting.
• Implement and enforce behavioral management programs and supervise youth activities.
• Document observations and required information in logs and databases.
• Contribute to a healthy, positive cultural climate aligned with organizational values.
• Complete DYS pre-service training and ongoing training; some travel may be required.
• Other duties as assigned.
