Job summary

State of Colorado—Division of Youth Services is seeking a Correctional Youth Security Officer I to provide direct supervision and safety for youth in a state-operated secure facility. The role emphasizes nonviolent, trauma-informed engagement, documentation, and adherence to conduct standards.

The position requires standing for long periods, occasional travel for training, and participation in overtime shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Willingness to physically intervene with assaultive youth.
• Must be on your feet during the entire shift and able to navigate multi-level facilities.
• Ability to adhere to behavior management plans and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, safety, security, and supervision of adjudicated/pre-adjudicated youth.
• Implement and monitor the youth center behavioral management program.
• Document observations and daily activities in logs and databases.
• Maintain professional conduct and contribute to a trauma-responsive environment.
• Complete required pre-service and ongoing training; some travel may be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
