Job summary

Rock County's Youth Services Center is seeking a Youth Specialist for a third-shift role in a secure facility serving male and female offenders under 18. The position operates on a rotating schedule and emphasizes behavior management through coaching, conflict resolution, and safe, least-restrictive interventions.

Youth Specialists perform supervision, documentation, and participate in training, with background checks and background investigations part of the process.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and at least one year working or volunteering with at-risk youth.
• Associate’s degree plus two years’ experience with at-risk youth, or a Bachelor’s degree plus one year of full-time experience.
• Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license by time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision of youth at the YSC.
• Document daily progress notes, incident reports, and rosters.
• Attend mandatory training and staff meetings; sign off on policies.
• Maintain Juvenile Detention Officer Certification annually.
