LIVE OAK PUBLIC LIBRARIES is seeking a Library Assistant- Youth Services for the Southwest Chatham Library in Savannah, GA. This part-time role (29 hours per week) involves front-facing customer service, circulation support, and assisting with youth programming.

Requires a high school diploma and at least six months of customer service experience. Familiarity with libraries and library systems is preferred; experience in a library or education setting is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and six months of customer service experience.
• Familiarity with today’s public libraries (services, materials, and programs).
• Familiarity with Integrated Library System (PINES preferred).
• Experience working in a library or educational environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers quality customer service that exceeds patron expectations.
• Provides general information and reader advisory using print and online resources.
• Performs daily branch opening and closing procedures.
• Provides circulation services; staffs information desks as assigned.
• Assist with receiving and preparing all library materials for circulation at the branch level.
• Shelves library materials and maintains shelf appearance.
• Maintains materials by mending, shelf reading, and weeding on condition.
• Assists with marketing library collection, services, and programs through displays and exhibits.
• Assists patrons with basic troubleshooting of common software products and devices; elevates issues as needed.
• Performs cash handling.
• Provides assistance in the use of electronic resources and basic computer programs.
• May prepare and present programming under guidance of supervisor.
• May act as Person-In-Charge in the absence of senior staff.
