Job summary

Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library District is seeking a part-time Youth Services staff member who loves working with young children and their families. The ideal candidate will deliver friendly, respectful service and assist with reference and readers advisory from the reference desk.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing Youth Services programs, helping patrons with computers and the online catalog, and keeping the youth area neat and welcoming.

Qualifications

• LTA certificate or related associate degree preferred.
• At least 1 year experience in library, education, or non-profit preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.

Job Summary: Do you have passion for working with young children and their families? Are you creative, energetic and organized? Youth Services is currently seeking an individual with experience working with children to join our staff to provide quality library services to children and their families.
The ideal candidate will have exceptional customer service skills to interact with children and adults. The ideal candidate is also able to collaborate effectively with other staff as well as work independently in a changing environment.

Education/Experience Requirements:

• LTA (Library Technical Assistant) certificate from an accredited program, or a related associates degree preferred.
• At least 1 (one) year experience in a library, education, or non-for-profit is preferred
• Experience working with children preferred
• Must have the ability to adapt to changing work situations and job requirements
• Must have a positive attitude and love working with young children.
• Must be organized, creative, and have excellent communication and collaborative skills.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus
