Job summary

Live Oak Public Library - Bull Street in Savannah seeks a Library Assistant to deliver high-level customer service and support public service functions. You will assist with circulation, information desks, and general operations to ensure a welcoming branch experience for all patrons.

The role involves shelving, basic tech assistance, program support, and occasional leadership duties. A high school diploma and customer service experience are preferred, with knowledge of the PINES system a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; six (6) months of customer service experience or equivalent
• Familiarity with today’s public libraries and library systems is helpful
• Experience in a library or educational environment is preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver quality customer service that exceeds patron expectations
• Provide information and reader advisory using print and online resources
• Perform daily branch opening and closing procedures
• Provide circulation services and staff information desks as assigned
• Assist with receiving and preparing library materials for circulation
• Shelve and maintain library materials; ensure correct order
• Assist with marketing library collections, services, and programs
• Provide basic tech help for common software and devices; escalate issues as needed
• May act as Person-In-Charge in the absence of senior staff
• Perform other related duties as assigned
