Job summary

The Washington-Centerville Public Library is seeking a Youth Services Library Aide to provide premier front desk service, greet patrons, respond to needs, and assist with checkout, all while creating a delightful library experience for patrons of all ages.

You will promote library resources for children, teens, and adults, assist with e-Catalog and Children’s Room equipment, and support programs such as storytimes and crafts; Sunday work may be required per scheduling guidelines.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service orientation with one year of work experience serving the public.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience
• Minimum of one year of work experience with youth in an education or library environment
• Proficient with PCs, web, and MS Office software
• Collaborative with demonstrated ability to contribute in a team environment; creative, with a good sense of humor
• Self motivated, organized, efficient, and productive with excellent time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Promoting resources and providing selection advice to children, teens and adults based on interests and attainment level.
• Assist patrons with e-Catalog, Play & Learn, and Information Stations, and other Children’s Room equipment.
• Provide direct reference help to young adults, adults, children, teachers, and special groups; research assistance, in-depth searching, database utilization, and specialized reader’s advisory service.
• Actively promote library services, programs, and materials to public and staff.
• Help prepare materials for crafts, seasonal reading clubs, storytimes, and other programs and services.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
