Job summary

YMCA of Delaware in Wilmington, Delaware seeks a School Age Aide to supervise children and support daily activities with safe, developmentally appropriate practices. This role emphasizes helping children learn through structured activities and positive guidance.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old (15 if in specific early childhood programs) and at least four years older than any child in direct care.
• Complete a physical and tuberculosis screening with physician’s documentation within 30 days of hire.
• Criminal history and child/adult abuse background checks required by Delaware law.
• Proficient active listening and strong communication with diverse families.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and activities with safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate practices.
• Provide daily care including feeding and supporting social/emotional needs.
• Encourage and support children in classroom activities, meals, transitions, and movement.
• Implement positive behavior management techniques.
• Assist planning and participating in daily age-appropriate classroom activities to promote learning.
• Observe children and document progress and development.
