Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware is seeking a School Age Site Assistant at the Middletown Family YMCA to support daily childcare operations. You will supervise children and staff in the absence of the School Age Coordinator, deliver engaging activities, and ensure a safe, welcoming environment.

Qualifications include 18+ with a high school diploma or equivalent, plus one of several training/education options. Opportunities for growth and competitive pay are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Option 1–4: specific education/training options for school-age care.
• Must complete background checks as required by Delaware.
• Physically and mentally capable of caring for a large group of children.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and all activities as assigned when needed.
• Provide daily care including feeding and supporting social/emotional needs.
• Engage children in classroom activities, meals, transitions, and gross motor activities.
• Plan and participate in daily age-appropriate activities to promote learning.
• Observe and document children’s progress and development.
• Communicate with staff and parents to foster collaboration and parent participation.
• Keep facilities and equipment clean, safe, and well-maintained.
• Complete required program documentation (attendance, meal counts, parent communication).
• Attend family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
