Job summary

Mary’s Place Seattle seeks a Children and Youth Specialist to support leadership of Youth Services and deliver a Kids Club experience for shelter youth aged 5–18, and Teen Club for ages 11–18. You will help ensure safety, well-being, and development through engaging activities and data-driven tracking.

This full-time, non-exempt role is based at the Regrade (downtown Seattle) location. Pay starts at $25 per hour, DOE, with a schedule Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or two years in relevant work experience, social or homeless services preferred.
  • Multilingual applicants—namely Spanish speaking—highly preferred.
  • Experience facilitating activities for children of all ages.
  • Understanding of youth development principles; ability to motivate youth positively.
  • Ability to model strengths-based problem solving, goal setting, and study skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, conflict mediation, and crisis management skills.
  • Self-motivated, mature, energetic, and able to maintain boundaries with guests, families, and staff.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications or ability to complete within 30 days.
  • Must have valid Washington state driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaged presence and leadership for programs, activities, and services.
  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment while maintaining facilities, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist with planning, development, implementing, and evaluating activities.
  • Collect and track Kids Club and Teen Club attendance and behavior data.
  • Maintain confidentiality of membership and school data.
  • Model professional work behaviors.
  • Set up and clean program areas daily.
  • Facilitate youth programming including homework help, games, outings, and parties.
  • Assist with High Yield Learning Activities.
  • Affirm positive behavior and provide coaching when needed.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies and volunteers to plan activities.
  • Provide crisis management and set appropriate limits.
  • Drive Mary’s Place vehicles for program needs.
  • Submit reports to Program Coordinator.
