Job summary

Scioto County Public Library is seeking a Youth Services Assistant to provide reference and readers’ advisory, along with circulation support for the community. You will plan and present youth programming for children 0 to 12 years old, both in-house and in the community, including school group tours and displays.

Experience in customer service is preferred; evenings and weekends are required. A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory, with access to reliable transportation and a valid

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months to 1 year experience; customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to meet scheduled hours including evenings and weekends.
• Driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons in-person and via telephone with reference, readers’ advisory, circulation, and online catalog duties.
• Plan, prepare and present youth programming in-house and in the community.
• Participate in collection development and maintenance.
• Process reserves and consortium items.
• Plan and prepare department displays and maintain order in supply areas.
• Shelve materials and shelf read as required.
• Explain policies to the public in a customer-friendly manner.
