Job summary

Johnson City Public Library's Children's Library is seeking an Assistant I to join a warm, busy team serving children birth through age 12 and their caregivers. The role includes planning youth programs, assisting with exhibits, and delivering public service at the library information desk.

Under supervision from the Assistant Director of Children’s Services, you will train on library procedures, work with teen volunteers, and help publicize events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.
• Experience in a children's library is preferred.
• Ability to plan and implement youth programs and exhibits.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement youth programs.
• Publicize programs and events in-house and via social media.
• Work directly with teen volunteers.
• Assist with materials development and weeding of youth collection.
• Create materials for programs and publicity.
• Represent the library in community outreach.
• Provide direct service at the Children's Library information desk.
