Job summary

christiancountylibrary is seeking a part-time Youth Services Associate to implement programming and outreach for ages 0-18 and their families. You will help maintain a welcoming branch while delivering library services.

Responsibilities include planning youth programs and storytimes, supporting annual reading challenges, and assisting with reference, readers’ advisory, and outreach to schools and community groups. Some travel to other branches may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum: 1-2 years library experience or 30 college credit hours.
• Preferred: Experience working with children and teens; College credits with an education emphasis.

Responsibilities

• Plan and present youth programs for ages 0–18.
• Plan and present regular storytimes for 0–18 months to 6 years.
• Assist with annual reading challenges (Summer Reading Challenge).
• Record statistics of programs and evaluate effectiveness.
• Travel to other branches as needed to assist with programs.
• Staff the Youth Areas to maintain safe, welcoming environments.
• Assist with reference, readers’ advisory, and patrons' inquiries.
• Participate in youth outreach services to schools and community organizations.
