Job summary

Pickens County Library System is seeking a Childrens Reference Assistant to support youth programming, reference help, and routine library functions.

The role involves shelving, customer service, programming development, and assisting in training volunteers, requiring a Bachelor or Associate degree and a valid driver's license. This position is on-site within Pickens County libraries.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor degree or an Associate degree and related experience equivalent to four year degree.
• Must possess valid state driver's license.
• Experience over two years and up to four years.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates, plans, and executes youth programming.
• Opens and closes branch or department and handles security procedures.
• In charge of branch library or department in the absence of supervising Librarian.
• Assists the public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Staffs the public service desks and answers reference inquiries.
• Assists library patrons in using resources and equipment.
• Performs shelving and shelf reading; maintains records and prepares routine reports.
• Attends continuing education classes and training to enhance knowledge.

Education

Bachelor degree or Associate degree (related experience equivalent to four year degree)
