Job summary

Mid-Continent Public Library is seeking a Youth Services Associate to provide friendly, customer-focused service at the information desk and to engage youth through programs and partnerships. The role includes presenting youth programs in-library and at schools or partner sites, developing displays, and assisting families with library resources.

Youth programming, age-appropriate literature knowledge, and outreach to community organizations are key components of this position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/HiSet/GED Completion Required.
• Customer Service experience preferred.
• 2 years relevant experience working with youth preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides Customer Service in person and over the phone.
• Acts as a guide for customers in use of the library and its resources.
• Demonstrates use of technology and digital services to customers.
• Recommends materials to customers based on interests, needs and availability.
• Assists customers with library card accounts, including the receiving and recording of payment.
• Delivers materials outdoors to customers who request curbside delivery.
• Contributes to the maintenance of the library collection.
• Presents, evaluates programs for youth and conducts outreach to community partners.
