Job summary

Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation is seeking a Recreation Specialist I to support and supervise Before/After School and Summer Programs for school-age youth across Virginia Beach Public Schools and community centers. You will help manage multiple sites, assist in training and developing staff, and support event planning and reporting while maintaining excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation management or a related field, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Experience supervising staff and coordinating youth programs.
• Experience in site/program management and youth development.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to Before School, After School, and Summer Program staff for youth programs.
• Assist in site supervision, planning events, and coordinating partnerships.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports using Microsoft Office products.
• Deliver staff training and development; ensure excellent customer service via phone, email, and in person.
