Job summary

YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking an enthusiastic staff member for the Before/After School Program and Summer Camp in Punta Gorda. You will directly care for participants, supervise activities, and ensure safety at all times.

Responsibilities include implementing age-appropriate activities and maintaining open communication with caregivers and families. Eligible candidates should have a High School Diploma, be at least 18, and pass Florida background screening.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or be 18+ years old.
• Background check as per Florida requirements.
• Prior experience working with children.
• Must adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke-free workplace policy.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Background screening through Florida Care Provider Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

• Direct care, supervision and well-being of participants in Before/After School Program and Summer Camp.
• Execute high-quality, age-appropriate activities and encourage participation.
• Ensure participants' safety and implement emergency procedures when needed.
• Monitor program area for safety and adjust as necessary.
• Release participants only to authorized persons (with ID check).
• Maintain neat, safe, and orderly childcare facility.
• Foster positive relationships with participants, families, and staff.
• Listen actively and show patience and respect to others.
• Promote emotional safety and development of social skills.
