Job summary

YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking staff for the Before/After School Program and Summer Camp. Under supervision, you will provide direct care and supervise participants, ensuring safety and promoting development through engaging activities.

Responsibilities include supervising ages, maintaining a welcoming environment, and building trusting relationships with families while adhering to YMCA policies and health and safety guidelines. This is a part-time on-site role in Florida.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or older than 18.
• Florida background screening requirements must be met.
• Prior experience working with children.
• Must comply with drug/alcohol/smoke free policy.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Positive attitude.
• Level 2 background screening via Florida Clearinghouse is required.

Responsibilities

• Executes age-appropriate activities for participants.
• Encourages participation to support growth and development.
• Ensure physical safety of participants and implement emergency procedures.
• Monitor program area for safety and adjust as needed.
• Release participants only to authorized persons with ID checks.
• Keep the facility neat, orderly and safe.
• Foster positive relationships with families and staff.
• Listen actively to participants with patience and respect.
• Protect emotional safety and support social skills.
• Maintain open communication with caregivers and families.
• Set boundaries and behavior guidelines; model appropriate behavior.
