Job summary

YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a dedicated individual to support the Before/After School Program and Summer Camp. You will directly care for participants, supervise activities, and ensure participant safety in a nurturing, structured environment.

The role requires high school diploma or 18+, and prior childcare experience. Successful candidates will complete required background checks and adhere to all safety policies and training obligations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or over the age of 18.
• Prior experience working with children.
• Able to adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy.
• Able to maintain confidentiality.
• Positive attitude.
• Employment is contingent upon completing Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

• Executes high quality, age-appropriate activities for enrolled participants.
• Encourages participation in all activities to ensure growth and development.
• Responsible for the physical safety of the participants at all times and able to implement emergency procedures.
• Monitors the program area to ensure safety and make changes as necessary.
• Release participants ONLY to authorized persons (need ID).
• Maintains a neat, safe childcare environment.
• Develops and fosters positive relationships with participants, families and caregivers.
• Maintains open communication with families and caregivers.
• Establishes structure and routines, and sets behavior guidelines.
• Disciplin(es) participants within YMCA guidelines and only when appropriate.
• Documents attendance, absenteeism and incidents in compliance with requirements.
• Reports unusual incidents to the Program Director and completes necessary reports.
