Job summary

Middletown Family YMCA is seeking a School Age Site Intern to support daily child care and education at the Middletown location. The role requires active supervision, meal support, and engagement in age-appropriate classroom activities to foster learning and well-being.

Candidates must meet licensing age and background checks; training opportunities and a structured development path are offered. Pay ranges from $15.00 to $15.50 hourly with available retirement and staff programs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old to meet licensing requirements.
• Must be supervised by a School Age Assistant and not alone with children unless allowed by Delacare Regulations.
• Criminal history and background checks as required by Delaware guidelines.
• Proficient active listening and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and activities while applying safe, developmentally appropriate practices.
• Provide daily care including feeding and supporting social/emotional needs.
• Engage children in classroom activities during instructional times and transitions.
• Assist in planning and participating in daily age-appropriate activities to promote learning.
• Observe and document children's progress and development.
• Communicate with coworkers, administration and parents to foster collaboration and participation.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of facility and equipment daily.
• Complete program documentation like attendance, meal counts and parent communication.
