Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware is hiring a School Age Site Intern for Sussex YMCA, working with the Indian River School District. The role is part-time, located at Sussex Family YMCA in Rehoboth Beach, DE, offering $15.00 per hour and opportunities for learning and advancement.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and meet one of the education/training options.
• Must be at least four years older than any child in care.
• Complete a physical and TB screening with physician’s documentation within 30 days of hire.
• Successful completion of criminal history and child/adult abuse background checks as required by Delaware.
• Strong active listening, patience, and communication skills.
• Ability to provide activities and maintain classroom discipline.
• Ability to work with diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and maintain safe, developmentally appropriate childcare practices.
• Provide daily care for children including feeding and supporting social/emotional needs.
• Engage children in classroom activities including instructional times, meals, transitions, and gross motor activities.
• Assist in planning, implementing and actively participate in daily age-appropriate classroom activities.
• Assist in observing children and documenting their progress and development.
• Communicate effectively with co-workers, branch administration, and parents to build positive relationships.
• Ensure the facility and equipment are clean, well-maintained, and safe daily.
• Attend family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development trainings.
