Job summary

The Brandywine YMCA Family Location is seeking a part-time School Age Site Intern to support caring for children and assist in daily activities. Under supervision, you will supervise groups, assist with learning activities, observe development, and communicate with families to foster a safe, healthy environment.

Ideal candidates are at least 16 with relevant coursework or training in youth care and are available for flexible mornings or afternoons.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years old with qualifying coursework or training in youth care.
• Successful completion of relevant training or credits as specified.
• Ability to meet licensing and background-check requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and activities as assigned with safe practices.
• Provide daily care including feeding and supporting social/emotional needs.
• Encourage participation in classroom activities and transitions.
• Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities.
• Observe and document children’s progress and development.
• Communicate with staff, families, and branch administration to foster collaboration.
• Maintain clean, safe facilities and equipment daily.
• Complete attendance, meal counts, and daily parent communications.
• Attend family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
