Job summary

Weingart East Los Angeles YMCA in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a seasonal preschool–youth development staff member. You will nurture children through purposeful activities, maintain supervision, and support positive behavior, family engagement, and program safety.

The role includes planning classes, participating in trainings, and upholding YMCA policies. Strong communication and community spirit are essential.

Qualifications

• Age 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Semester units in CD, human services, or related fields preferred.
• Experience with school-age children in group settings.
• Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Strong character values and communication skills.
• First Aid, Adult/Infant/Child CPR within 60 days; child abuse prevention training.

Responsibilities

• Nurture children through purposeful programming for achievement and belonging.
• Maintain close supervision and follow ratios in the group.
• Use positive discipline and behavioral support strategies.
• Support inclusion and ADA compliance as appropriate.
• Plan and implement classes with topic-based skill mastery.
• Ensure safety, cleanliness, and accurate program records.
• Foster parent engagement and volunteer connections.
• Attend trainings and meetings; uphold YMCA policies.
• Demonstrate core values and leadership competencies.
