Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a program support specialist to deliver youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility programs to members and the community. You will follow standard practices under supervision to ensure program quality and safety.

Key duties include assisting the Program Director, coaching staff, developing activity plans, monitoring delivery, onboarding new staff, supporting marketing materials, registrations and scheduling, and addressing safety concerns

Qualifications

• Previous customer service, program delivery or related experience.
• Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with children and adults.
• Desire to work with children and families and to relate to them in a positive, patient, sensitive and non-judgmental manner.
• Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.

Responsibilities

• Actively works within assigned program area, developing member relationships, improving engagement, coaching staff and improving program quality.
• Participates in program related events, meetings and staff trainings.
• Assists with Program Director to ensure program areas meet safety and YMCA standards; track staff certifications.
• Monitors and evaluates program delivery and plans activity schedules.
• Assists with interviewing, onboarding and training new staff; may help create staff schedules.
• Supports execution and implementation of new program initiatives.
• Creates marketing materials, tracks program records and registrations, and helps schedule programs.
• Identifies concerns and reports safety issues to the Program Director for timely resolution.
• Assists in identifying staffing, supplies, and equipment needs for programs.
• Responds to member and participant inquiries and complaints promptly.
• Supports center fund-raising activities and CDLOD scheduling.
• Other duties as assigned.
