Job summary

Good Shepherd Services in New York is seeking an Assistant Group Leader for the after-school enrichment and recreational program at Red Hook Community Center. This is a part-time, non-exempt position with up to 20 hours per week and a starting pay of $17 per hour.

The role involves assisting with engaging activities, supervising youth, distributing snacks, and helping maintain a safe, supportive environment during the school-year schedule (Sept–June, Monday–Friday, 2pm–6pm).

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Reliable and consistent work habits.
• Available during the program hours listed above.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events
• Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary
• Supervise participants throughout afterschool program
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model
• Support activity instructor(s) with lessons.
• Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
