Job summary

Good Shepherd Services seeks an Assistant Group Leader to support after-school enrichment and recreational activities for PS 297. The role involves supervising participants, assisting with diverse activities, and helping maintain a safe, engaging environment after school.

The position is non-exempt, up to 20 hours per week, with a schedule Monday–Friday, 2pm–6pm during the school year, and pays $17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old.
Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits, and ability to work with other youth.
Must be available during the program hours listed above.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
Commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and special events.
Collect attendance folders and other data as necessary.
Supervise participants throughout the afterschool program.
Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
Monitor and uphold the rules of the program and afterschool model.
Support instructors with lessons and activities.
Collaborate with the group leader to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
Follow all GSS, DYCD, and SACC regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
