Job summary

Good Shepherd Services is seeking an Assistant Group Leader to support and assist staff in carrying out all planned educational and enrichment activities for the after-school enrichment and recreational program. Reports to the Program Director at Red Hook Community Center/PS 15.

The role runs up to 20 hours per week, non-exempt, with a school-year schedule (September–June, Monday–Friday, 2pm–6pm). Salary is $17.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
• Commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Responsibilities

• Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events.
• Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary.
• Supervise participants throughout afterschool program.
• Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up.
• Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model.
• Support activity instructor(s) with lessons.
• Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
• Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
