Job summary

Good Shepherd Services is seeking an After School Group Leader in Bronx, NY for up to 20 hours per week. The role focuses on safety, group management, and engaging youth in educational and recreational activities after school.

The position runs Monday to Friday from 2pm to 6pm, with duties including curriculum planning, collaboration with staff, and family engagement. The ideal candidate supports a positive youth development environment, attends trainings, and maintains records.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year related experience in youth group development activities preferred.
• Ability to contribute to a positive youth development environment.
• Commitment to working with youth from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Overall supervision and management of identified group of participants.
• Engage participants in after school activities and model appropriate behavior.
• Ensure safety of participants at all times.
• As needed, engage in outreach activities to ensure attendance.
• Provide support to activity instructors and other group leaders.
• Develop a sequenced thematic curriculum and activities including arts & crafts, literacy and related subjects.
• Develop positive relationships with participants, colleagues and school/center personnel.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings (including evenings).
• Maintain attendance records and ensure proper documentation.
• Assist with planning culminating events and parent engagement activities.
