Job summary

The City of Elkhart's Parks and Recreation Department seeks a part-time Program Aide to assist with planning and delivering recreational programs, sports, afterschool activities, and special events for all ages. The role supports operations, supervision, setup, cleanup, and equipment management, with work on days, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus experience with youth or community programs; strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in recreation, education, or related field is a plus.
• Experience working with youth, adults, or seniors in recreational or educational settings is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for interaction with participants and staff.
• Knowledge of recreational activities, sports, arts and crafts, or event coordination is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize recreational activities under supervision of the Program and Recreation Coordinator.
• Organize supplies and equipment and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities.
• Complete attendance and participation records as required.
• Assist with sports programs, games, special events, afterschool programs, and other recreational activities.
• Supervise participants, enforce program rules, and promote a safe environment.
• Set up, clean, maintain, and properly store program equipment and supplies; prepare facilities for activities.
• Maintain regular communication with the supervisor and site staff.
