Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Redlands-Riverside is looking for a Youth Development Specialist to prepare and implement youth programs, supervise members, and evaluate activities within our afterschool and summer program. You will support Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character outcomes while upholding Scholarship Prep guidelines.

The role involves creating engaging environments, ensuring safety, guiding youth, and collaborating with staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to review and implement lesson plans provided by the district.
• Knowledge of youth development stages.
• Early Childhood education credits are a plus.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to deal with the general public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality activities for youth.
• Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Interpersonal skill development and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Youth for Success: Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development.
• Outcomes: Promote program participation, provide guidance and role modeling, provide homework help and academic support.
• Program Implementation: Effectively implement and administer services and activities for students; ensure safety and organized spaces.
• Supervision of Youth: Provide guidance, mentor youth, ensure a safe environment and adherence to school behavioral guidelines.
• Professionalism: Participate in staff meetings, maintain reputation and adhere to policies.
• ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: May participate in special programs/events; may drive club van.
• RELATIONSHIPS: Interact with staff, members, parents and external groups to resolve issues.
