Job summary

Johnstown YMCA is seeking a part-time School Age Program/Summer Day Camp Leader to help implement activities, provide leadership and direction to participants, and ensure safety and supervision at all times.

The role requires meeting state childcare qualifications, having 480 verifiable hours with groups of 5–18 children, and the ability to relate well to diverse people; you will lead staff and volunteers and uphold YMCA policies and emergency procedures.

Qualifications

• Meets Program Leader qualifications as stated by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services Child Care division.
• 480 verifiable hours of experience working with 4 or more children ages 5-18.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Experience in K-5th grade program development – preferably in a licensed program.
• Ability to implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities and relate to children.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.

Responsibilities

• Independently leads and supervises children in small and large group activities.
• Adheres to program standards including safety, licensing, and health department standards.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants and community members.
• Provides leadership and support to Program Aides and Volunteers.
