Job summary

Johnstown YMCA in Colorado is hiring an Early Childhood Teacher to direct the program, implement curriculum, and ensure safety in the classroom. The role includes supervising Assistant Teachers and engaging families in YMCA values.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree or equivalent per CDHS with at least 1 year of supervisory preschool/kindergarten experience, and is 21 or older. CPR/First Aid/AED and required trainings must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent – must meet ECT qualifications through CDHS.
• Minimum 1-year experience working with Preschool aged/Kindergarten aged children in a supervisory role.
• Minimum age requirements of 21.
• CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens and required trainings within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups and communities.

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
• Supports in the supervision and direction of Assistant Teachers.
• Makes ongoing observations and evaluations of each child.
• Ensures compliance with YMCA and CDHS health and safety requirements.
• Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment and records.
• Attends family nights, activities, staff meetings and trainings.
