YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking a Counselor II to provide a safe, inclusive after-school experience for children aged 5-12. You will serve as a mentor and facilitator, guiding kids through recreational and educational activities, helping them build confidence and social skills in a supportive environment.

The role involves leading activities, supervising groups, and enforcing safety protocols across YMCA centers, with opportunities for professional development and community impact.

Competenze

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a high school diploma or the equivalent.
• Meet the minimum qualifications for “Lead Teacher” as defined by VA Dept. of Education Division of Child Care Health and Safety.
• CPR/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
• Completes all pre-employment requirements including background checks.
• Adequate speaking, hearing and writing skills for interacting with children.
