Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a part-time music instructor to plan and teach lessons for program participants in Milwaukee, WI, aligned with CSF expectations.

You will assemble semester syllabi, coordinate recitals, conduct 35- to 50-minute lessons across beginner to advanced levels, and maintain a positive, safe learning space while reporting on attendance and engagement.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's or professional certification in music preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience as a performing/practicing musician.
• Must be 18+ and responsible for personal instrument(s).

Responsibilities

• Plan semester-long curriculum syllabus for assigned instrument or vocal.
• Coordinate recitals and performances for advanced classes and jam sessions.
• Conduct 35- or 50-minute lessons for different levels on assigned days.
• Teach age groups 9–12 and 13–18 in small cohorts (up to 5).
• Complete CSF lesson reports, attendance, and engagement metrics.
• Communicate Salvation Army and CSF program philosophy and goals to students, parents, and the public.
• Maintain a positive learning climate and safe, organized space.
• Maintain equipment and arrange repairs with site/CSF managers.
• Encourage emotional, social, and educational growth of participants.
• Participate in required Salvation Army, County, State, and funder trainings.
