Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a music program leader to work with children and adults in corps and community settings. You will plan and implement theory, performance skills, music, and values through structured lessons and activities.

You will coordinate recitals, lead music classes, and foster growth, teamwork, and positive behavior while supporting the mission of The Salvation Army in the community.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
• Experience: A minimum of two years’ music experience working with children/adults. Performance experience is preferred.
• Certifications/Licenses: None

Responsibilities

• Lead music and other arts programs within the corps; plan weekly lesson curricula.
• Plan and attend recitals; prep corps programs for year-end concert.
• Encourage participants to develop musical abilities, self-esteem, and school/program pride.
• Organize musical performances and community activities to promote the Salvation Army mission.
• Encourage participation in summer camps; help plan divisional music camp and summer music day camps.
• All other duties as assigned.
