Job summary

Newark Alliance is seeking a Project Lead for its 21st Century Community Learning Centers program in Newark. This part-time role (18 hours/week, Monday–Friday 2:30pm–6:00pm) mentors students, supports after-school programming, and helps families access college and career options.

The Project Lead will work with Site Managers to plan workshops, track attendance, and coordinate with partners. Candidates should demonstrate mentoring, leadership, and strong communication, with a passion for youth

Qualifications

  • Experience developing and facilitating workshops or group activities.
  • Ability to tutor in ELA or Math preferred.
  • Passion for mentoring and youth development.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to connect with high school students and build positive relationships.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, responsible, and committed to program success.

Responsibilities

  • Mentoring and youth development: serve as a consistent mentor to students, building trusting relationships and providing guidance on academic, social, and personal growth.
  • Model professionalism, leadership, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Support students in developing confidence, self-awareness, and future aspirations.
  • Provide individualized check-ins, encouragement, and referrals to resources when needed.
  • Assist Site Managers in delivering high-quality afterschool programming.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, participation, and incident records.
  • Support special projects, events, and family engagement activities.
  • Participate in staff training, planning meetings, and professional development sessions.
  • Work as part of a team with Site Managers, staff, and community partners to strengthen programming.
