Job summary

Passaic County Community College is seeking a Lead Mentor to support Pre-College Programs in Paterson. The role is part-time and hourly, with session commitments in summer, fall, or spring. You will mentor students, support enrichment activities, and help document experiences on social media.

The position requires current college status (junior year preferred) and strong communication skills. Training is provided, and duties include tutoring, advisement, and Saturday program participation.

Qualifications

• Must be a current college student in junior year.
• Preference for completion of an associate degree.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with students, staff, parents and others.

Responsibilities

• Participate in mentor training provided by grant program.
• Serve as a role model for mentors and encourage college/career pursuits.
• Assist in the development of skills necessary for protégés to succeed both personally and academically.
• Participate in the planning of enrichment activities and use level all to create complementary activities.
• Document the experiences of students via social media. Posts on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube weekly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the program director/coordinator.
• Attend Saturday program and field trips.
• Communications: Create publications (flyer, website, social media, handbooks) and provide updates for mentors.
• Data Verification: Enter new student data, verify information, combine survey data.
• Tutoring and Advising: Tutor Math and English, advise Early College Cohort, prepare mentor workshops.
• Observation and Feedback: Provide feedback on mentor role and student engagement.
• Ensure mentors are prepared for Saturday program.
