Job summary

Rutgers University-Newark is seeking an Afterschool Assistant Program Leader to run the PYU-21st CCLC program for 3rd–8th graders in Newark, NJ. You will work with teachers, sponsors, and community partners to deliver STEAM-based enrichment with a 15:1 student-staff ratio, ensuring safe and engaging activities.

The role emphasizes positive youth development, family communication, and ongoing professional development, with on-site, part-time hours and a salary range of $15.13–$27.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent, up to 4 years of relevant office, clerical, bookkeeping, library assistant or related experience
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the experience requirement
• Must possess a high school diploma and be able to communicate orally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Support program implementation of essential components and high-quality academic and character-building enrichment
• Assist with transitions from school to after-school, including snack/meal distribution and homework help
• Undergo training for classroom management and positive youth development integration
• Provide academic remediation and assist with interactive activities
• Supervise students and collaborate with partners
• Engage in ongoing professional development and communicate with families
