Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II in Clayton, GA. Under general supervision, you will provide social services to assist in rehabilitation of offenders on probation or in custody and help formulate rehabilitation plans.

Primary duties include interviewing probationers, monitoring progress, administering drug tests, preparing case files, testifying in court, and coordinating treatment services to support successful reintegration.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a related field and two years of job-related experience in a human services delivery setting.
• Or four years of direct case management job-related experience working with offenders and their families in a human services delivery setting.
• Or two years of experience at the lower level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 1 (SSP130) or position equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to evaluate progress and ensure compliance with probation contracts and rehabilitation plans.
• Recommend remedial action or initiate court action for non-compliance with probation or parole terms.
• Administer drug and alcohol tests to verify compliance with treatment programs.
• Prepare and maintain case folders for each offender.
• Discuss issues such as substance abuse and anger management with offenders.
• Conduct pre-hearing investigations and testify in court regarding offenders' backgrounds and recommend sentences and conditions.
• Inform offenders of requirements of conditional release (visits, restitution, education/work stipulations).
• Write reports describing offenders' progress and evaluations.
• Investigate legal issues and arrange for required treatment services.
• Supervise community-based sentences and perform field supervision such as curfew checks or home visits.

Education

Associate degree in a related field, with two years of job-related experience in a human services delivery setting

Four years of direct case management experience with offenders and their families in a human services delivery setting

Two years of experience at the lower-level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 1 or position equivalent
