Job summary

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II to serve Fayette CSO in Fayetteville, GA. Under general supervision, you will provide social services to assist in rehabilitation of offenders in custody or on probation, including recommended actions for rehabilitation plans and compliance stipulations.

Primary duties include interviewing offenders, administering tests, preparing case folders, testifying in court, and coordinating treatment services.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related field with two years of job-related experience in a social services delivery setting.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to evaluate progress and ensure compliance with probation contracts and rehabilitation plans.
• Recommend remedial action or initiate court action for non-compliance with probation/parole terms.
• Administer drug and alcohol tests including random screens to verify program compliance.
• Prepare and maintain case folders for assigned inmates or offenders.
• Discuss factors such as substance abuse and anger management as part of rehabilitation planning.
• Conduct pre-hearing and pre-screening investigations and testify in court regarding offenders' backgrounds and recommended sentences.
• Inform offenders of conditional release requirements including office visits and restitution or education/employment stipulations.
• Write reports describing progress and investigate legal issues.
• Counsel clients with substance abuse issues and arrange for related treatment services.
• Supervise individuals on community-based sentences and provide field supervision through curfew checks and visits.
