Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Juvenile Detention Officer - Access Control in Columbia, SC. You will verify credentials, manage visitor access, monitor entry points, and respond to security concerns at a government juvenile justice location.

The position offers $17.00 per hour with day shifts and opportunities for training, growth, and a flexible schedule within our nationwide security team.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license in the state of employment.
• At least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check will be performed as per law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply per state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, youth residents, and authorized contractors while carrying out access-control procedures at a government juvenile justice location.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization, maintain visitor logs, and control access to restricted areas.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner; notify appropriate personnel and document observations.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of entrances, exterior areas, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized access.
• Maintain clear, professional communication with facility personnel, visitors, and leadership while completing reports and shift documentation.
