Job summary

Allied Universal, North America’s leading security and facility services company, seeks a Juvenile Detention Officer in Columbia, SC to safeguard youth and staff, manage access points, screen visitors, and uphold facility procedures with professionalism.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma, and DPSS/DHS clearance; at least six months of security experience; background check and drug screen; X-ray screening preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license in the job location.
• DPSS/DHS requirements including TB test and MMR vaccinations.
• At least six months of security-related experience.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Armed/unarmed age requirements: 18+/21+ as applicable.
• Licensing requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to staff, visitors, contractors, and youth program personnel while enforcing access-control procedures and security-related policies.
• Monitor entry/exit points, verify IDs, maintain visitor logs, and direct individuals per facility procedures.
• Screen personnel and property in accordance with post orders and government facility requirements.
• Respond to incidents and notify site contacts and emergency responders as needed.
• Conduct regular patrols of access points and perimeter locations and report unusual activity or damage.
