Job summary

LifeWorks in Austin, TX is hiring a Housing Intake & Placement Specialist to join the Housing Development team. The HIPS helps transitioned-aged youth (18-24) and their families secure permanent housing by coordinating landlord partnerships, subsidies, and barriers navigation.

This full-time, non-exempt role leads the housing search and lease process, supports youth after lease execution, and collaborates with case managers and landlords to ensure housing stability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2 years of experience in rental housing or homeless response systems required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft products; Outlook, Teams and Dynamics 365 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service while coordinating with a case manager for tenant barrier screenings and housing intakes.
• Identify housing placement options based on preferences and barriers.
• Apply Housing First approach in all role functions.
• Coordinate outreach to landlords and negotiate rental screening criteria.
• Develop partnerships with property management to reduce screening barriers.
• Facilitate unit applications and assist with lease processes and transitions.
