Job summary

Boys and Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley (BGCSV) is seeking a Part-Time youth program staff member for onsite work in San Jose, CA. You will supervise, mentor, and lead engaging after-school activities for groups of youth, promoting social, emotional, and physical development in a safe environment.

Experience with after-school programs or related activities is preferred. The role offers a supportive, inclusive workplace with health benefits, educational reimbursement, and a sick leave policy.

Qualifications

• Experience working with students in educational or recreational settings is preferred.
• Background in after-school programs, sports coaching, theater, or special education is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and effective classroom management techniques.
• Ability to educate and inspire youth through various activities while fostering a positive learning environment.
• Certification in First Aid is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.

Responsibilities

• Supervision & Safety: Ensure a safe and nurturing environment for youth participants.
• Facilitate engaging activities that promote social, emotional, and physical development for a group of 20 members.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to members, helping them navigate challenges and achieve their goals.
• Implement educational programs that align with best practices in childhood development.
• Supervise and manage groups of children in various settings, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and community organizations to enhance the overall development of youth.
• Utilize skills in sports coaching, theater, or other extracurricular activities to enrich the program offerings.
• Maintain accurate records of members' progress and participation in activities.
• Respond to emergencies with appropriate first aid measures when necessary.
